Welcome to the LP team, Katherine! We are so thrilled to have you!
Where are you from? I was born and raised in Orlando, FL. I moved to South Texas for 13 years when I graduated college and lived there until moving to the Florida Keys. I have found my forever home in the Keys!! I am so lucky to live here!
Tell me about your family? I have been with my husband, Jason for 20 years (married for 12 years). I met Jason on my first day of college of my Freshman year and we’ve been together ever since. It sounds so crazy to me to say we started dating when we were 18 years old, but somehow we managed to grow up together and build a great life!! We have three kids, Macy 9, Brit 5 and our surprise Hurricane Irma baby, Bren 6 months.
What brought you the keys? My husband is a huge fisherman and any spare chance he gets he’s out on the water. So naturally the FL Keys is the perfect place for him! I love warm weather and tropical water so when the opportunity with his job arose for us to move down here, he said yes without even consulting me first ????! I still remember that phone call “Hey Kathy, guess what? The location I was offered for my new job was Key West and I said yes. I hope you don’t mind?” My response was “Are you crazy!! Of course I don’t mind!! When do we move?!”
Why do you love about photography? I love interacting with people and being apart of people’s wedding day. I feel so lucky to share so many special moments between brides and grooms, parents and children on such a momentous day. I always tell my couples that this is the one time in their life that everyone who is important to them will be at the same place at the same time celebrating THEM – and I get to be witness to that and photograph those moments!! It’s literally the best day of people’s lives and I get to share in that! How can I not love this job!!
What do you do on your days off? Umm, I have three kids so cleaning, changing diapers, homework, driving kids to after school activities, yelling at them to brush their teeth, etc. ????. Just kidding. Outside of the normal role of being a mom we like to spend our time out on the boat as a family. There is nothing better in this world than spending the day out on the boat enjoying this paradise we are so lucky to live in. I feel very fortunate that I am able to give my kids an amazing childhood living on the water.
Your favorite hobbies? Shopping at Restoration Hardware ????. I have an unhealthy obsession with their furniture. So does my mom. We enable each other. LOL. But seriously, I think about home decor almost all day long. I would say my style is understated, minimalist, organic and I mostly stick to neutral tones. I LOVE raw wood and natural materials.
Favorite part of your job? My favorite part of my job is interacting with people. I love to laugh and in turn getting genuine emotion from my couples I work with. I love getting to know my clients and hearing their stories of who they are. I always leave my sessions or weddings feeling like I gained new friends.
What’s your favorite exercise? I like to run, have run a few marathons and I also like to go to cycling classes. But I am sad to say that in the last two years or so I have slacked on exercising. Betty and I joined a gym, and we pay our dues but we don’t ever go. Does that count? ????
What’s your favorite dessert ? Key lime pie. My neighbor makes THE BEST homemade Key Lime pie EVER. She uses shortbread cookies for the crust and fresh lime zest. And now my mouth is watering thinking about pie………
What are you grateful for today? I am grateful I have a neighbor who can make amazing Key Lime Pie!!! Hahaha. But seriously, I am thankful for my 3 kids even if they drive me nuts from time to time ????. They fill our home with so much laughter and love.
